NightjarBot
You found us in your logs.
NightjarBot fetches pages on behalf of someone who asked us to watch this site — usually the agency that built it. It reads pages; it never submits forms, never logs in, and never writes anything.
How it identifies itself
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; NightjarBot/1.0; +https://nightjar.corentinmre.fr/bot) site-health monitor
How it behaves
- ·
Obeys robots.txt. Both
*andNightjarBotrules are honoured, includingDisallowpaths. - ·
One request at a time per host, with a pause between each. It will not add measurable load.
- ·
A few dozen pages a day at most — between ten and forty per visit depending on the customer's plan, once or twice a day.
- ·
GET and HEAD only. Nothing is posted, no form is filled, no session is created.
- ·
Public pages only, on ports 80 and 443. Private and internal addresses are refused outright.
- ·
Skips assets. Images, video, fonts and archives are never downloaded.
How to stop it
Add this to your robots.txt and it will leave within a day:
User-agent: NightjarBot Disallow: /
If you would rather it stopped immediately, or you believe someone is monitoring a site they have no business monitoring, write to corentin.courier624@passinbox.com with the domain, and we will block it on our side.
What we keep
For each visit: the status codes, the page titles and meta tags, a word count, the links found, and which analytics tags were detected. We do not store page content, and we do not republish anything about your site publicly.
